Shipping labels are an integral part of any e-commerce business, as they provide basic information about the shipping process such as the address to which the package has to be shipped, the name of the recipient, the place from where it ships from and a few barcodes for tracking. This information is essential to ensure that the package reaches the right person.

Prepare for Shipping

UPS allows you to create labels for boxes, regardless of whether it is a domestic or international shipment. The best part is you can create these sticking labels from any computer that has Internet access. Before you go and create a label, have the necessary information handy like the destination address. Note that a UPS account number is not necessary because the system can directly bill it to your credit or debit card, depending on the circumstances of the case.

Create a Shipment

The next step is to create a shipment. For this, go to the UPS website and navigate to the Shipping tab. In this page, select the Create a Shipment Label option. To do this though, you need a My UPS account. If you don't have an account already, you'll be asked to complete a registration form that will include a User ID, password, valid email address, shipping address, and phone number.

Do the Groundwork

With a valid login ID, you can now create printable box labels that can be pasted on your package. But before that, make sure you have the recipient's address and phone number handy. Also, decide if you're going to drop it off at the local UPS office or are you going to schedule a pickup. Other questions to consider include how you want to pay and how soon do you want your package to be delivered. Will you be using your own box or a UPS box to ship? Keep answers to these questions before printing a packaging label.

Create a Label

Based on your needs, UPS has a large label template that you can use. Simply fill in the details such as the recipient's name, address and phone number and take a printout, preferably from a UPS thermal printer.

Return Labels

If you want to have a return label with your name and address, go for it too. This label can be particularly useful if you want undelivered packages to be returned to you.

Paste the Labels and Ship

Now that you have all the labels ready, put the things in your own box or a UPS box and paste the printable UPS labels. Finally, drop them off at the local UPS office or schedule a pickup, if that works more convenient for you. In short, UPS makes it easy to print labels for boxes. Just follow the above process to ship your items.
